Company Profile

Building Performance Americas USA, Inc., and our licensed contractors, help strengthen homes to withstand hurricanes.  That’s our main job.  Readily coupled with that vital work, we can also reduce energy and maintenance costs, distinctly improving house sustainability  – and market value.

The needs – and the opportunity – are vast:  Our innovative technologies can help upgrade typical low-rise buildings – not just houses – in the US hurricane belt.  Many millions of otherwise well-built homes and buildings (perhaps in the order of 40 million) cannot withstand the Category 3, 4 and 5 hurricanes that are becoming more frequent.

Starting with R&D and first trials in the Cayman Islands in 1999, we have successfully developed, refined, proof-tested and applied our technologies there, in Canada and in the USA. We work with leading engineers and building scientists, conducting wind tunnel and air stream testing and full-scale field trials. Our hurricane retrofits withstood 2008 Hurricane Paloma’s winds of 145 mph on Little Cayman and in 2012 Tropical Storm Debby’s tornado winds in Pinellas County, Florida.

BPA is proud to be an active member of the following organizations: Construction Specification Institute, Florida Sheet Metal Contractors Association and Florida Home Builders Association. Members of the BPA Team have participated in the National Hurricane & FLASH (Federal Alliance for Safe Homes) Conferences as well as the Florida Insurance Summit.
